Linton Primary School

School Meals

Breakfast

Breakfast is served to all of our children at 8.45am. This social time with children and staff is a key part of our school day. Pupils can choose from a range of cereals or bagels/toast. Fruit juice and milk are also available.

Lunch

Our school meals are cooked in our own kitchen on site and we operate a three weekly rolling menu. Each day children can choose from the selection of a main meal and dessert. Alternative options are always available. In addition to the main meal and dessert, a fresh fruit platter is also provided each day to encourage our children to make healthy choices and try new things.

Many of our families are entitled to free school meals and we encourage all parents to please complete a Free School Meal application online to check your eligibility by clicking HERE  (or call into the school office and we’ll do this with you). It costs you nothing to apply, and in addition to you saving money if eligible, you can also help secure additional funding for our school.

Under the Government’s Universal Free School Meals scheme, school meals are currently free for pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 regardless of eligibility - HOWEVER - please do still complete the application as detailed above.

For those not eligible, the price of a school meal is £2.50 per day. Lunch money for pupils who pay for meals can be paid weekly or termly by cheque or cash. Cheques should be made out to Linton Primary School and all payments handed into school should be put in an envelope, clearly marked ‘Lunch Money’, with your child’s name and how much is enclosed on the front.

Children may bring a healthy packed lunch if this is their preferred option, but must commit to either dinners or packed lunches for the full week to prevent food waste.

Snacks

Our children are provided with fresh fruit every day. This is funded via the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (SFVS) to help your child achieve 5-a-day. We also provide additional snacks such as crackers or toast during the day if needed.
