We use a range of strategies to teach maths. Children work as a large group, small group, pairs and individually. Learning is supported by classroom display. Our approach includes:

  • Practical tasks
  • Worksheets
  • Investigations and problem solving
  • Computer software
  • Games

We include maths in our cross curricular lessons – such as measuring temperatures, data logging, timing events, making charts and graphs.

Children have access to our learning platform where they can carry out homework tasks on Nortle ‘I am learning’ tool. Active Learn also offers home access to practice skills and improve mental fluency.

By the end of Year 4 pupils should have memorised multiplication tables up to x12 and you can support us at home by practising these key mental skills.
